Salvation Farms Donation
Sites

|
Salvation Farms’ mission includes providing
nutritious, fresh local food to those who are local citizens
lacking in nutrition and food security. Most of our donation
sites cater to the hungry or the individual dependant on
at least one meal prepared for them at an industrial/institutional
kitchen. We are trying to influence the consumer with a
product that is local, fresh, and better than most available
options. We do not look to take profits or potential markets
away from local farmers, but would rather act as a supplemental
program to continue the insurance that Vermont is eating
healthy and local. As a not for profit project, Salvation
Farms finds it important to share donations with other non-profits,
especially those working with children or families. We will
also a share a portion of the harvest with volunteers and
volunteering institutions. Salvation Farms aims to involve
more donation recipients in the act of gleaning. We will
always consider increasing our number of donation site as
their needs become introduced to us. |
To Quote Our Donation Sites
| “Aside from the obvious nutritional
value of consuming lettuce and other greens on a daily basis,
we have found that there was a more meaningful and long-term
value to the presence of a beautiful salad at mealtimes.
Within several weeks of the Pete’s Greens donations
the children came to expect that they would be served fresh
vegetables at every meal.” Beth LeCours, Greensboro
Early Learning Center, 2004 |
“All of us at The Lamoille Family Center
are extremely grateful to all of you for your wonderful
deliveries of exceptional produce during this summer and
fall. Your spectacular gleanings brightened our lives and
nurtured our bodies and spirits. We truly hope you will
be able to continue this program/initiative again next year.”
