Vermont Gleaning Collective
The Vermont Gleaning Collective (VGC) was founded by Salvation farms in 2014. We are proud to continue supporting this collective impact work in a backbone role over a decade later.
The VGC collaborates as a statewide partnership of autonomous, community- based programs that operate gleaning programs and work in solidarity to support farmers, residents, and the food system. This partnership includes our friends at: Community Harvest of Central Vermont, Healthy Roots Collaborative, HOPE, the Intervale Center, and Willing Hands.
Together, in 2025 we:
- gleaned 299,530 lbs of fresh food from local farms
- partnered with 189 Farms
- brought food to 237 community partners
- engaged 1,447 volunteers in 8,964 hours of gleaning.
Our collective impact work is a unique partnership that has served as a model for the development of gleaning networks across the United States. We work together to strengthen the impact of gleaning across our region through data collection and resource sharing.
